The whole point of the Snowman Series is to bring people together entirely for the purpose of having SERIOUS FUN! It represents that certain spirit within each of us that cries out for excitement. It's the lifestyle that we all dream of living, where reality can be shed at the doorway like an uncomfortable overcoat, while we don the robes of unpretentious enjoyment. Each Snowman Series event is planned with the thought that participants and spectators alike are joining the fray as an escape from the work-a-day world, and looking for something a little out of the ordinary and far from the mundane. The Original Snowman Series is what we now know as the Mixed-Up Doubles 8-Ball Tournaments, whereby players are mixed with various partners through several rounds of competition. This format has proven effective at leveling the playing field between veteran & rookie shooters, so that, in theory, it's less likely for a single avid player to dominate any particular roster. The intent has also been to allow players to match their skills against a greater number of competitors, while mingling with a greater number of associates. In short, it's a social thing! Since it's inception in May 1998, the Series has grown to include an ever- increasing line-up of events, thus drawing an even wider audience and fan base. Early in the new millennium, the Series expanded to include an 8-Ball Singles roster, The Ultimate Showdown, as well as the Swingin' Singles 9-Ball Challenge, where once again mingling was encouraged by way of "swinging" players from one match to the next against a varied field of competitors. The Snowman Series expanded in 2002 to include the SNOWvivor Skills Challenge (a billiard spin-off of the popular reality TV series) and the Charity Challenge 8-Ball Tournaments, which have benefited charities such as The Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario (SB&H) and the Dancemakers Organization. Later in the year, the Series entered the world of card play with the launch of Circular Invitational Rotational Euchre, whereby euchre enthusiasts were pitted against random pairings through five timed rounds of divisional play, until ultimately, the top 2 players of each division were left to battle it out for the title. Most recently, The Matrix of Mayhem was created as an 8-Ball singles roster featuring 14 individual players in more than 70 games in 6 heated rounds of competiton, until only "the Chosen One" remained to collect the trophy. Themes for tournaments have been based on pop-culture icons, movie releases, seasonal occasions, and special events, and one thing has remained constant throughout... They're always exciting, 'cuz if there's one thing the Snowman knows, it's how to have SERIOUS FUN! |
